Thomas Cook axes summer programme to Tunisia

ORGANIZATIONS TRAVEL WORLD

Thomas Cook has followed Thomson in cancelling its summer programme to Tunisia.
The tour operator said that in light of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office advice against all but essential travel to the country, all bookings to Tunisia will be cancelled up to and including October 31 this year.
A helpline for agent enquiries has been set up, open from 9am to 6pm (10am-5pm on Sundays) on 01733224520.
Thomas Cook is individually contacting customers whose bookings are affected, prioritising those due to travel soonest, it said.
Customers already booked can cancel their holiday or change to another destination free of charge. Those who rebook will have to pay any difference in price between the two holidays but they will receive a £30 per person discount, regardless of whether the new holiday is cheaper or more expensive.
Thomas Cook said: “We appreciate that this may be frustrating for our customers who have been looking forward to their holiday and we would like to assure them that we are doing our upmost to ensure they are still able to enjoy a Thomas Cook holiday.”
Thomson cancelled its Tunisia programme until at least October 31 on Friday in light of ongoing security concerns following a terror attack in the resort of Sousse last June, when 33 clients of Thomson and sister company First Choice were killed along with six other people.
