Around 354 new investment projects in the hotel and tourism sector are expected to be implemented in Turkey by 2026.
According to Tourism Databank Research, from 11 August 2024 to 2026, 100 new 4 and 5 star hotels will be opened in Turkey. Thus, more than 12 thousand additional rooms and 27 thousand additional beds will be offered to the travelling public. The total amount of these investments is expected to amount to 24.8 billion Turkish liras, while another approximately 92 billion Turkish liras will be spent on renovation and modernisation investments.
On the other hand, according to Tourism Databank data, the number of hotel construction permits issued by the Turkish authorities in the first half of 2024 reached 1,092, up 88%. The regions with the highest number of new hotel permits are Istanbul, Mughla, Balikeshir, Antalya, Trebizond and Sakarya.
The operation of the new hotels is estimated to create around 10,000 additional jobs in the sector in the first phase.
Similarly, IHG Hotels, which operates 31 hotels, plans to increase the number of hotels to 37, Dedeman, which operates 40 hotels, to 100, Anemon, which operates 26 hotels, to 34 and TUI, which operates 16 hotels, to 18.
Meanwhile, hotel groups Titanic, Kaya, The Green Park and Divan, which operate 10 units each in Turkey, plan to increase that number to 12 each.
Crystal Hotels management said it does not intend to open any new hotels in 2025, while Coral Group management said it has not yet finalized its new hotel plans.
