At 174 euros was the average price of a double room in Greek hotels in the 7 months of January – July 2024, instead of 153 € in the corresponding period of 2023, while in seasonal hotels the price in July 2024 was 194 €, compared to 168 € in July 2023, according to exclusive information of MONEY & TOURISM. In addition, occupancy rates remained stable in the 7-month period, while the highest prices seem to have been achieved, short-headed, by the Ionian Islands.
These extremely interesting data emerged from the primary research of the Institute of Tourism Research and Forecasting, which is conducted on a monthly basis, offering important information on developments in Tourism.
– In July 2024, the average occupancy in hotels was 82,8%, the average price of a double room was 174 € and the median price of a double room was 83 €. It is noted that the average occupancy in July 2023 was 82,7%. The Average Occupancy in all hotels based on operation July 2024/2023 in seasonal was stable 85,9% and in continuous 72,9%, compared to 73% in July 2023.
– In July 2024, the average occupancy in 5* hotels was 90,5%, compared to 88,6% in July 2023, at 4* 86% against 86,5% in 2023, at 3* 77,9% against 79,5% in 2023, 2* 75,1% against 74,1% in 2023 and 1* 71%, against 74,1% in 2023.
– Crete recorded the highest occupancy in July 2024 with 89.3%, compared to 86.6% in Attica and 86.3% in the Ionian Islands
– In July 2024, the average sale price in 5* hotels was 325 €, compared to 269 € in 2023, at 4* 164 €, compared to 162 € in 2023, at 3* 98 € compared to 90 in 2023, at 2* 76 €, compared to 68 € in 2023 and at 1* 71 € fixed.
At Regional level, the Ionian Islands lead in July 2024 with 218 euros, compared to 213 € for the South Aegean and 175 € for Crete.
