In an agreement for the transfer of the 5 hotels of the Kipriotis family in Kos, after a long legal dispute, HIG and Kostas Kipriotis have reached an agreement, with HotelBrain, which had a long-term lease on the hotels and operates them, facilitating the transaction by backing down. The five hotels, based on the preliminary agreement signed on Monday, will be transferred to KOS S.A.
In more detail and according to absolutely verified information, the transaction concerns the five-star hotels Kipriotis Panorama Hotels & Suites and Kipriotis Maris Suites, and the four-star hotels Kipriotis Aqualand Hotel, Kipriotis Hippocrates Hotel, and Kipriotis Village Resort. In total, the hotels have 4,500 beds and two conference centers that can accommodate 7,500 delegates.
The hotels are leased for 10 years to HotelBrain, the largest hotel group in Greece, with a portfolio of over 100 hotels, and this issue was raised at the negotiating table. To facilitate the transaction, HotelBrain, always standing by the hotelier, accepted the change in the rental period to 2 years for the 4 hotels and 1 year for the last one.
It is recalled that in 2022, HIG acquired non-performing loans of approximately 135 million euros from Piraeus and Eurobank of G. Kypriotis & Sons. The loans are guaranteed by the five hotel complexes of the Kypriotis group located on the island of Kos. Subsequently, there were major legal disputes, while HotelBrain Group threw a lifeline to Kostas Kypriotis, which, through the rental of the units, pays off the company’s debts to the state through the price.
Who is the “buyer”?
The hotels will be transferred to KOS S.Α., which is based in Athens at the HIG group’s office building and was founded in 2022.
The company’s management consists of BITROS KONSTANTINOS, as president, SIDERIS KONSTANTINOS, as vice president, and GIANNOPOULOS ALEXIOS as a member, but it has not been active to date.
