Three studies regarding installation of the new Acropolis lift were unanimously approved by the Central Archaeological Council.
It regards an elevator for physically challenged visitors, which was installed in 2004 with a new slope lift.
The new system is going to set off from the level of ancient Peripatos, on the northern side of the rock, transporting visitors straight to the top.
The new lift is going to be a slope lift system of adjustable inclination and is going to be installed at the same site as the old system. The itinerary is going to be shorter as there is not going to be another means involved in- between, starting 6 meters higher than the level of Peripatos and the physically challenged visitors will be able to get there using a transporting platform.
Following submission and approval of the relevant studies, the Contractor will have to deliver the lift by 19th June, according to Minister of Culture and Sports, Ms. Lina Melidoni. 19η Ιουνίου.
