Conferences on yachting, sustainable tourism and cultural heritage under the auspices of Greek Tourism Organization


-Three major conferences, which will explore important aspects of the tourism phenomenon, such as yachting, the viability and sustainability of the tourism industry and the preservation of cultural heritage, will be organised in the near future under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organisation.

In particular:

The 3rd Panhellenic Yachting Conference began today (22 February) at a conference venue in Athens, with the central aim of further developing yachting and marine tourism through the rallying of people in the industry. The conference will bring together representatives of the political world, business executives and academics, who will develop their views on a variety of topics, such as the institutional role in Greek yachting, marinas and port infrastructure, the boat owners’ side, career opportunities in yachting, marketing, green yachting, the shipbuilding industry, safety at sea, female entrepreneurship in the industry, etc. The conference concludes tomorrow 23 February.

On 27 February, the Hellenic Society for Environment and Culture (ELLET) will organise the conference “Tourism and Sustainability” at the Acropolis Museum. The conference will explore the compatibility of tourism with sustainable development by institutional bodies, academics and experts who will analyse the Greek reality, together with mayors from Greece and Europe, who will present their experience of managing tourism flows in their cities. The event aspires to provide tourism industry professionals with the skills and tools to enhance quality tourism development, contributing to the upgrading of the reputation of our country’s tourism product.

Also, from 6 to 9 March, the 5th Panhellenic Conference on Digitisation of Cultural Heritage – EUROMED will take place in Larissa, with the cooperation of Greece and Cyprus, Greek and Cypriot universities, global scientific institutions, research centres, etc. It is a meeting of science and Greek culture, focusing on education, research, innovation, digital technologies and cultural tourism, which seeks to exploit the global impact of the achievements of Greek culture. More than 1,000 participants are expected to take part in the conference, with 300 of them coming from abroad.

The Greek Tourism Road Show 2024

At the same time, the “Greek Tourism Road Show 2024”, an initiative of Choose Greece, is in full swing under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization, which aims to network, through B2B meetings, Greek destinations and tourism businesses with representatives of the tourism industry and journalists from various European countries. This year’s road show started on 9 January in Copenhagen, continued on 20 February in Munich and is currently (22/2) being held in Vienna. It will be followed by Bucharest (21 March), Warsaw (26 March), Belgrade (11 April), Nicosia (19 April), Naples (16 May), Glasgow (31 October) and Stockholm (2 December). This year’s event will be attended by, among others, the Regions of Crete and Thessaly, the Municipalities of Chania, Rethymnon, Chersonissos, Heraklion, Agios Nikolaos, Tempi, Agia, Volos, Skiathos, Plastira, Edessa, Ancient Olympia, Kos, Kalymnos, Rhodes and Chios, hotel companies, tourist offices, etc.
