Work has begun on the construction of HIG Capital’s large investment in Aspropyrgos, as he said at the 25th conference of the Hellenic Logistics Association, as the head of the American investment fund HIG Capital in Greece, Mr. Konstantinos Bitros.

According to Mr. Bitro, construction work will begin in early 2025 and the aim is to complete and deliver the premises in stages by the end of 2026.

In particular, the €300 million strategic project, possibly called Hull Logistics Park (HLC), aims to create a new, small city in the Aspropyrgos area, on the old premises of the Greek Steelworks.

As part of the approved investment strategy, it is envisaged, among other things, the construction and operation of a hotel, presumably managed by Ella Resorts, the hotel arm of HIG, catering facilities led by branded chains in the Greek market, shops and a private clinic offering primary care services.

In more detail, the investment plan provides for the construction and operation of a single, model, state-of-the-art logistics and combined transport unit – rail, sea and road (tri-modal) – in the Aspropyrgos area of West Attica.

The intervention area has a surface area of 291 hectares and is located in close proximity to the Bi.P.E. Aspropyrgos Refineries, at km 17 of the Athens-Corinth highway.

The area faces the bay of Elefsina, where a ship docking pier will be constructed, with the corresponding port works and the necessary infrastructure for the unloading of containers by sea.

The facilities of the innovative tri-modal park in Aspropyrgos, will connect the coastal front with roads, a railway line and an 18 m robot warehouse complex of 150,000 sq.m.

During the investment period, 1,238 new jobs are expected to be created (900 new jobs in infrastructure and 338 for the operation of the pier).
