New direct flights from cities in the United States to Athens have been announced for this year’s tourist season, according to traveloffpath.com.
Although the number of flights from the US to the Greek capital lags in connection with other European capitals, the website notes that this summer seven American cities will have direct flights to Athens.
These are:
1. New York
Three airlines offer seasonal flights to Athens from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. These airlines are Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and the newcomer Norse Atlantic Airways.
Norse Atlantic Airways has just announced its new route. The low-cost airline will offer five weekly flights from JFK to Athens from May to October.
The best deals with this airline are for the off-peak months of September and October, with fares starting at $249 one-way.
2. Newark, New Jersey
Another city with direct flights to Athens is Newark, New Jersey. Travelers can fly from Newark Liberty International Airport to Athens all year-round with Emirates.
United Airlines will also offer seasonal itineraries to Athens beginning in March.
3. Washington, DC
For travelers from the Washington, D.C. area, there will be a direct route from Dulles International Airport (IAD) to Athens starting in the spring.
United Airlines will operate daily flights from April to October this year.
4. Boston, Massachusetts
Another city with a direct connection to Greece is Boston. Delta Air Lines will operate daily direct routes from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Athens starting in April.

For those living in Chicago, there are now plenty of nonstop flight options to Athens this summer.
American Airlines will again offer seasonal flights from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Athens. These flights will operate daily from May through October.
United Airlines has also announced a new route to Athens, with daily flights from the end of May through August.
7. Atlanta, Georgia
Finally, travelers can fly nonstop from Atlanta to Athens with Delta Air Lines. This seasonal route begins in March, offering the opportunity for a spring visit to Greece.
