Finalists announced for WTTC Tourism For Tomorrow Awards

ORGANIZATIONS TOURISM TRAVEL WORLD

Fifteen companies & organizations, among them TUI, from 62 countries, have been selected as finalists in «Tourism for Tomorrow Awards».
These annual awards are among the highest accolades in the industry and represent the gold standard in sustainable tourism.

Candidates can apply in one of five categories: Community Award, Destination Award, Environment Award, Innovation Award and People Award.
The finalists were selected by a team of independent judges led by Graham Miller, professor of sustainability in business and head of the school of hospitality and tourism management at the University of Surrey.

Environment Award Finalist – Alcatraz Cruises, USA Finalist – Lindblad Expeditions, USA and Worldwide Finalist – Wilderness Safaris, South Africa / Botswana
Innovation Award Finalist – ‘Carmacal’ B2B carbon calculator by ANVR the Netherlands Travel Trade Association, Netherlands Finalist – ‘Measuring Tourism’s Impact’ by PWC, Travel Foundation & TUI Group, United Kingdom Finalist – Regenerative Plug-In Hybrid Propulsion System, Northsailing, Iceland
People Award Finalist – Jus’ Sail, Saint Lucia Finalist – Kinyei International, Cambodia Finalist – Youth Career Initiative (YCI), United Kingdom
The winners will be announced at the WTTC Global Summit in Dallas, Texas, on April 7.
WTTC president and chief executive, David Scowsill, says: “It is by sharing best practices and educating our peers about sustainability that we can ensure the growth of our sector is managed responsibly.”
WTTC has been committed to promoting sustainability in the Travel & Tourism industry ever since we were established over 20 years ago. Ensuring the long-term sustainable growth of our industry is probably the biggest challenge we face.
The WTTC Tourism for Tomorrow Awards are aimed at recognising best practice in sustainable tourism within the industry globally, based upon the principles of environmentally friendly operations; support for the protection of cultural and natural heritage; and direct benefits to the social and economic well-being of local people in travel destinations around the world.
