The easyJet Group has committed to invest in the development of Greek tourism over the next four years, signing a memorandum of cooperation with the Greek Ministry of Tourism and the Greek National Tourism Organisation for promotional activities.
The partnership, which will start from this winter season, will include online and offline marketing by easyJet holidays for Greek destinations.
The Greek Ministry of Tourism will provide support for the campaigns and license the use of its promotional material.
EasyJet claims to be the largest UK carrier to Greece, offering nearly 1.6 million seats per year from all its markets and 136 routes to 14 Greek destinations, including Kos, Corfu, Crete and Rhodes.
The agreement was officially signed at WTM on Tuesday, by easyJet Holidays CEO Garry Wilson and Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni.
EasyJet holidays chief executive Garry Wilson said: “I am delighted to sign our formal commitment to work with the Ministry of Tourism of the Hellenic Republic and the Hellenic Tourism Organisation until 2028.
“Greece is one of our favourite destinations, so we are delighted to support its growth ambitions. I look forward to seeing a successful outcome to our partnership.”
Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni said that the memorandum of understanding with EasyJet holidays and easyJet underlines Greece’s commitment to create effective partnerships with organisations that share our goals for the future. She said that sustainable development is at the heart of the strategic planning for the future of Greek tourism.
