FTI bankruptcy: 5vorFlug travel platform sold | Who is the buyer?

BUSINESS TOURISM

The travel platform 5vorFlug comes under the protection of Urlaubsguru, following the announcement of FTI‘s bankruptcy.

With the help of a two-brand strategy, Urlaubsguru intends to promote travel offers through an additional sales channel and thus reach new target groups.

For many years, 5vorFlug has been FTI Group’s last-minute travel expert, offering up to one billion travel deals to more than 80 destinations. Now, lifestyle travel brand Urlaubsguru has acquired the travel platform and all related rights.

The two gates will coexist in the future, according to the announcement. “Urlaubsguru will continue to operate as a brand with a very strong lifestyle focus, very inspiring content and close communication with the community. With 5vorFlug, our goal is to reach a target group that is more price sensitive and has a short decision-making process and then also offer them an ideal holiday experience,” says Urlaubsguru co-founder and CEO Daniel Krahn.

Urlaubsguru had previously announced its intention to enter the tour operating market in 2025. “The acquisition of 5vorFlug is now the next big growth step,” says Daniel Krahn. However, he and the lifestyle platform’s co-founder and CEO, Daniel Marx, know how difficult it is to realize their ambitions. “We have many new and very exciting tasks ahead of us in the coming months. The latest developments will certainly create challenges,” the two leaders argue.

Urlaubsguru was founded in 2012 in the town of Unna in the Ruhr region. The business model initially consisted of researching cheap travel deals and making them available on its own website.

The portal is now an established travel agent, with an extensive product portfolio, including package travel, short holidays, hotels and other accommodations, as well as cruises. In total, Urlaubsguru and the international brand Holidayguru employ around 90 people.

Earlier, just over a fortnight ago, FTI’s insolvency practitioner announced the sale of Windrose to hiking specialist ASI Reisen. The TVG travel agency chain had already been sold to Raiffeisen Vertriebs GmbH shortly after the bankruptcy.
