Growing Chinese destinations for the year 2024 according to HBX Group data

ECONOMY TOURISM WORLD

The HBX Group’s data on the Chinese New Year is helping the development of travel agencies and the need to find new ways of marketing that will help open up the tourism market and attract new audiences who are able to travel and primarily seek it.

The announcement of the date of the New Year change in China is for February 10, which is considered one of the largest annual tourism events in the world. With this announcement new trips were planned, prices increased and travel agencies started to organize plans for those days. This year, HBX Group data has revealed that Harbin, Shenzhen and Guangzhou are among the big winners for the Chinese New Year, which runs from 9-17 February. Political and commercial capitals such as Beijing and Shanghai are also among the top five destinations.
When it comes to length of stay, most travellers, both national and international, choose to stay between 2 and 6 nights, trying to make the most of the holiday season.

The new circumstances brought changes in the country’s arrivals, as the restrictions that existed reduced incoming tourism and then economic growth. The last restrictions applied were in August. Thereafter, there was no restriction on the Covd-19 measures. So the days that the Chinese time change was scheduled were quite free. Visa-free entry permits were granted simultaneously for 5 European countries (France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain) while Singaporeans were granted visa-free entry.

According to HBX Group data, the main outbound markets include Thailand, Japan, the United States, Spain and the United Kingdom. While the most popular destinations for the inbound market are Shanghai, Guangzhou, Taipei, Macau and Hong Kong.

Ιn terms of the outbound market from China, Thailand destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya are experiencing an increase in demand, while other destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Singapore, Bali and London are proving to be also popular this year.

According to Pippa Williamson, VP Commercial APAC at HBX Group :”Celebrating Chinese New Year is not only a cherished tradition, but also an important economic driver for the travel industry.
