Holidaycheck buys Beach-Inspector

BUSINESS TOURISM WORLD

German hotel evaluation and booking platform Holidaycheck is heading for the beach with the acquisition of Beach-Inspector and plans to expand the destination review service.

Holidaycheck has acquired most of the beach review portal through an asset deal for an undisclosed sum. The deal covers the start-up’s destination data, content material, brand rights, technology and other assets.

Founded in Berlin in 2015, Beach-Inspector claims to have ‘tested’ more than 1,500 beaches in over 400 destinations around the world, which are presented with texts, pictures and videos on the company’s website. The portal claims to have ‘millions of users’ but has not disclosed any precise business figures.

The founders of Beach-Inspector.com, Kai Michael Schäfer, Anton Werner and Thomas Berndorfer, explained: “The DNA of both companies is based on the provision of relevant information for holidaymakers. The combination of high-quality hotel information and travel offers from Holidaycheck with unique beach information from Beach-Inspector is obvious and will allow many beach holidaymakers a new and better way of travel planning.”

Holidaycheck CEO Christoph Ludmann added: “The topic of beaches is one of the most sought-after and clicked topics on our platforms. With the exclusive content of Beach-Inspector, we can offer our holidaymakers even better information and thus facilitate their decision-making when searching for and finding the perfect holiday.”
