HOTELS REPORTS TRAVEL

The Apollonia Beach hotel on Crete knocked long-standing number one, the Ikaros Beach, from top spot in the first fortnight of this year, according to the latest fvw Hotelometer ranking of German holidaymakers’ favourite hotels in Turkey, Spain and Greece.
Since mid-November the Ikaros Beach Luxury Resort & Spa in Malia had remained ahead of its competitors in the ranking. But the Apollonia Beach Resort in Linoperamata overtook it in the fortnight from December 28 to January 10, while the Lyttos Beach was second and the Lindos Princess Beach third, leaving the Ikaros Beach in fourth place.
Other movers in Greece were the Creta Maris Beach Resort, which climbed three places to fifth in the ranking, while the Sitia Beach (7th), the Sentido Mikri Poli Atlantic (9th) and the Royal Belvedere on Crete (10th) entered the top ten ranking. In the family ranking, the Apollonia, the Lyttos Beach and the Lindos Princesss Beach were the top three hotels. Most enquiries from couples went to the Ikaros Beach, the Apollonia and the Creta Maris.
In Spain, the Sotavento Beach Club moved up three places to second behind long-standing number one, the Lopesan Costa Meloneras and ahead of the Iberostar Playa Gaviotas. In the family ranking, the Sotavento Beach Club, the Iberostar Club Cala Barca and the Viva Cala Mesquida Club were the top three. Most enquiries from couples came for the Lopesan Costa Meloneras, Iberostar Playa Gaviotas and the Labranda Bahia de Lobos.
Unusually there was no movement in the top five places in the Turkish ranking. The Aydinbey Kings Palace remained in top spot ahead of the Primasol Hane Family and the Royal Dragon. Families were also most interested in these three hotels (in the same order of ranking) while most enquiries from couples were for the Aydinbey, the Adalya Ocean and the Commodore Elite Suites.
The fvw Hotelometer is a fortnightly ranking of the most popular tourist hotels in Spain, Turkey and Greece, based on all enquiries in the Traveltainment reservations system used by German travel agents and online booking engines. The data, supplied by IT company TrevoTrend and split into different categories (overall, families, couples, singles and star ratings), thus reflect demand trends but do not show actual bookings.
