Ikaros soars to Greek top spot

The Ikaros Beach hotel was the most popular hotel in Greece for German holidaymakers, and other hotels in Malia on Crete also performed well in the latest fvw Hotelometer.

The five-star luxury resort in Malia jumped from third to first place in the demand-based rankings for the fortnight from February 8 – 21, pushing the Apollonia Beach into second place and with the Lyttos Beach in third place. Other hotels in the Malia region also did well, with the Alexander Beach entered the top ten in fifth place and the Kernos Beach in seventh place.

In the family ranking, the Lyttos Beach, the Apollonia and the Lindos Princesss Beach retained the top three places. Couples were most interested in the Ikaros Beach, the Kernos Beach and the Apollonia Beach.

There were few changes in the Spanish and Turkish rankings in the fortnight from February 8 – 21.

In Spain, the Sotavento Beach Club on Fuerteventura retained top spot ahead of the Lopesan Costa Meloneras on Gran Canaria, which had occupied first place in the overall ranking for many weeks. The Blau Punta Reina in Cala Mandia (Porto Cristo) remained in third place. Other hotels that moved up the ranking were the Gloria Palace San Agustin (7th), the IFA Buenaventura (8th), the Gran Camp de Mar (9th) and Lopesan Baobob (10th).

In the family ranking, the Blau Punta Reina, the Sotavento and the Viva Cala Mesquida Resort remained the top three. The Lopesan Costa Meloneras defended top spot in the couples’ ranking ahead of the Sotavento Beach Club and the SBH Costa Calma Palace.

In Turkey, Aydinbey Kings Palace remained top of the overall ranking ahead of the Delphin Imperial and the Royal Dragon. Families were most interested in the Aydinbey, the Titanic Beach in Lara and the Club Asteria, while most enquiries from couples were once again for the Aydinbey, the Adalya Ocean and the Commodore Elite Suites, according to the fortnightly ranking.

The fvw Hotelometer is a fortnightly ranking of the most popular tourist hotels in Spain, Turkey and Greece, showing customer enquiries but not actual bookings. It is based on all enquiries in the Traveltainment reservations system used by German travel agents and online booking engines. The data, supplied by IT company TrevoTrend, is split into different categories (overall, families, couples, singles and star ratings).
