According to the survey of Holiday Money Report for the British Post Office, Corfu was ranked in position 8 in Europe and position 16 globally as a top holiday destination for the British among the many other Greek holiday destinations.
According to the survey, published in MONEY & TOURISM, January 2020 issue, prices for 8 basic tourist products, such as a meal for two persons and wine, a cup of coffee, bottled water, a bottle of beer, a fizzy drink, a glass of wine, sunblock and insect repellent, which holidaymakers buy during their stay, have decreased by over three quarters, that us in 33 of the 42 destinations examined, globally.
In Corfu, prices fell by 21%, with the total cost for the products listed above at 75,91 pounds by comparison to 96,06 pounds in 2019, bringing Corfu in position 16 among 42 destinations globally.
In holiday resort “Sunny Beach” in Bulgaria, prices fell by 15% for the eight basic products, which is the cheapest destination internationally for the British tourists, where total cost for these products amounts to £30,68. Marmarida, Turkey is rated second, where total cost amounts to £44,15. Then is Tokyo, Japan with total cost at £48,21, rated as best distant holiday destination. An equally economical destination is Algrave, Spain, with total cost at £49,87, and then Cοsta del Sol, Spain at £53,16, followed by Prague at £63,02. Pafos island follows right afterwards at £63,22.
As in all surveys, the most expensive holiday destinations appear to be in the French south (Nice at £89,31) and the Italian south (Sorrento at £108,39).
In fat, cost still is number one criterion for the choice of destination, having a serious impact on their plans.
