Scoot chooses Athens as Europe’s hub for low cost flights to Asia-Pacific

Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) wholly-owned long-haul, low-cost subsidiary – has announced today that it will launch services between Athens and Singapore! Scheduled to commence on 20 June 2017, the new service between Singapore and Athens marks Scoot’s first long-haul flight between Asia Pacific and Europe, as well as the longest flight operated by a low-cost carrier (LCC) with flight distance exceeding 10,000km.

Guests from Europe can connect to Scoot’s services from Singapore to Australia (including Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney), China, India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Saudi Arabia – to discover a wealth of exciting discoveries that the Asia Pacific region has to offer.

Guests can also connect to the network of Scoot’s sister airline Tigerair – the short-haul, low-cost arm of the SIA Group – which operates to 39 destinations from Singapore, offering European travellers tremendous value and connectivity to alluring destinations in Southeast Asia including Bali, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi.

The management of the two low-cost sister companies is run by Budget Aviation Holdings, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines Group formed in 2016.  Ensuring the highest standards of safety and reliability, together, Scoot and Tigerair  offer a combined network of 56 destinations over 16 countries across the Asia Pacific, with Scoot operating an all-787 Dreamliner fleet to medium-to-long-haul destinations and Tigerair offering short-to-medium-haul flights on its Airbus A320-family aircraft from Singapore.
