Strong tourist demand for Greece and 2019 from the German market.

The strong upward course of arrivals of German tourists in Greece over the last four years will continue vigorously and in 2019, according to the results of the meetings and negotiations of the Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Elena Kountoura, with agents of the German travel industry, completing her official visit to ITB International Tourism Fair in Berlin.

The promotion of new Greek destinations and new thematic products on the German market, which is one of the two main markets for Greek tourism, is expected to lead to a new record of arrivals of German tourists in Greece in 2019, even higher than 2018, when they surpassed the 4.4 million.

A dominant feature highlighted by representatives of the German tourism market is that while the neighboring countries of the Mediterranean have fully recovered from tourism, and although other popular European destinations show declining trends, tourism demand for Greece remains strong and our country is a leader the most popular destinations for German travelers this year.

Ms. Kuddura met with DRV Chairman Norbert Fiebig, who highlighted the positive image of the German reservation and expected a further increase of 3% in 2019 with the figures so far.

Minister met with TUI Group Managing Director Mr. Friedrich Joussen and Mr. Thomas Ellerbeck, member of the Executive Committee, on the basis of the close strategic partnership they have established and discussed the strengthening of their tourism programs in Greece for 2019 as also for new programs focusing on the further promotion of the Greek tourist product in foreign markets.

The Minister also met with Thomas Cook’s Managing Director Peter Fankhauser, who discussed the Group’s investments in the Greek hotel market and the development of their programs on the basis of the Ministry’s strategy to promote Greece as a tourist destination the year.

In the framework of the events organized for the dynamic promotion and promotion of Greece, the official first presentation of the new tourism campaign “Oh My Greece! Unlock the Feeling ‘, produced by Marketing Greece, which has granted the GNTO free copyright, and is an important public and private synergy. Furthermore, a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Region of Crete and the German Land of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was signed at the GNTO stand for sustainable development with a focus on tourism. The Minister of Tourism, Mr. Michalis Vamiadakis, was represented in the Region of Crete, while the Memorandum was signed in the presence of the Deputy of the Hellenic-German Assembly (DGV), Mr. NorbertBarthle, and of the Greek Secretariat General, Mr. Konstantinos Tzega.

In the meetings with the aim of further tourism promotion of Greece on the German market, participated, the Greek National Tourism Organization, Mr. Konstantinos Tsegas, the Vice-Chairman of the EGO BoD, Angeliki Chondromatidou, the Market Research and Advertising Director of GNTO Mr. Petros Saganas and the Head of the German National Tourism Organization, Mrs. Victory Stroumbu.

Finally, the Minister gave a series of interviews on the promotion and promotion of Greek and Greek tourism, international and German media, the CNBC international television network, the popular German TV network RTL and Deutche Welle.
