Lina Melodonis, Minister of Culture met Antonis Kabourakis, mayor of Rhodes in Athens together with Manos Konsolas, deputy Minister of Tourism.
The discussion focused on speeding up the procedures for the application of the Contracts concerning protection, promotion, management and sustainable development of the medieval town of Rhodes.
According to the mayor of Rhodes, the permanent residents of the town, who actually make it the largest living Medieval Town in Europe, besides their glorious past, also deserve a sustainable present and promising future, which are made possible with the initiative of the Ministry of Tourism. The Region of the Southern Aegean, the Municipality of Rhodes and the Ministry of Culture are going to collaborate closely in order to overcome delays and initiate a series of works and actions towards the Medieval Town of Rhodes 2040.
The Minister of Tourism is visiting Rhodes on 9th March to discuss the details for the development and promotion of Lindos, which is another valuable cultural heritage of the island of Rhodes.
