With Christmas approaching, even though the weather in Greece is still nice, the best way to get into the holiday spirit is to walk around and shop at a Christmas market. But what are these Christmas markets that can offer their visitors the magic of Christmas?
New analysis by InsuranceandGo used Google search data to identify the top Christmas markets in the world. The market with the most searches is Skansen Christmas market in Stockholm, which, according to the analysis, has had a 324% increase in searches this year compared to last year, with Europe having a significant representation on the list, with six out of ten Christmas markets located on the continent, three in the Americas and one in Canada.
New York’s iconic Winter Village in Bryant Park is the second most searched Christmas market in the world – search interest is up 311% compared to last year.
The Covent Garden Christmas market, in London, came in third. Other countries in the Top 10 with the world’s top Christmas markets are the UK, Denmark and Switzerland. In addition, two markets in Switzerland and the UK tied for sixth place and each saw a 122% increase.
To arrive at the rankings, the company compared Google’s keyword search data and then calculated the percentage increase in search volume between July and September from last year to this year. Search terms with fewer than 500 searches this year were not included.
