Two Greek cities among the most economical city break destinations for autumn

Two Greek cities are among the 15 most economical city break destinations in Europe this autumn, according to the findings of a new study by Compare the Market.

In particular, the study found that the most affordable European cities for a mini getaway include Heraklion, Crete, in sixth place in the fifteen and Athens in eighth place.

Compare the Market analysed some key indicators to find out which European destinations are most affordable for a city break, including the cost of a meal per person, travel and an overnight stay in an Airbnb, along with the number of Instagram posts for each city.

The title of most affordable destination was won by Istanbul, Turkey’s bustling capital, thanks to the average cost of a meal per person, which stands at £7.31, the price of a one-way transport ticket (just 43 pence) and the cost of staying in an Airbnb, which stands at £68 per night.

In second place is Warsaw, which has an average cost per night on Airbnb of just £65, and in third place is Budapest, where a meal for one person costs just £8.73, while Poland debuts in fourth place with Krakow.

However, the ranking includes some famous but expensive European cities, which probably made the list thanks to their crazy Instagram post counts, such as Vienna (in fourteenth place) and Paris (in fifteenth place).
