Under the approved EUR 300 million protective shield, the Austrian government will cover financial damage resulting from events being canceled or restricted due to COVID-19.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"article_richtext-container richtext-container\">\n<p>The Austrian guarantee gives event planners much needed planning security. For Vienna&#8217;s meeting industry, this means that organizers who intend to hold an event in Vienna are covered and can plan their events even in these uncertain times . The first eligible event date is March 1, 2021. Applications can be submitted through June 15, 2021. The prerequisite is that the event is held in Austria. The protective shield applies if an event is canceled or restricted for reasons objectively related to COVID-19. An event is considered restricted if more than 30% of the participants cannot take part in the event due to COVID-19.
