Ryanair points to the recent \u20ac9 million fine imposed by Italy\u2019s competition authority (AGCM) on eDreams for what it described as \u201cblatantly misleading\u201d pricing practices, arguing that this further demonstrates how certain OTAs continue to overcharge customers across Europe.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"958\" data-end=\"1272\">The airline also referenced its recent legal victory in the Hamburg Court, which ruled that eDreams\u2019 price presentation misled consumers. Ryanair says this decision reinforces its long-standing position that EU governments must take immediate action to protect consumers from opaque and inflated pricing practices.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1274\" data-end=\"1764\">Ryanair continues its campaign to shield EU consumers from OTA overpricing and has once again called on EU governments\u2014particularly Spain\u2019s Consumer Affairs Minister, Pablo Bustinduy\u2014and national consumer protection authorities to take urgent steps. The airline is urging regulators to introduce mandatory price transparency requirements for all OTAs, in line with the transparent pricing standards applied by Ryanair\u2019s \u201cApproved OTA Partners,\u201d which it says offer full consumer protection.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1766\" data-end=\"2825\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Dara Brady of Ryanair stated: \u201cRyanair\u2019s February survey shows that certain OTAs, such as eDreams, Vola, and Tryp, continue to overcharge unsuspecting consumers\u2014sometimes charging more than double the price available on Ryanair\u2019s website. Yet Spain\u2019s ineffective Consumer Minister, Bustinduy, continues to refuse to act to protect thousands of Spanish consumers from eDreams\u2019 overpricing. These latest findings also reflect the \u20ac9 million fine imposed by Italy\u2019s AGCM for \u2018blatantly misleading\u2019 pricing\u2014further proof that the anti-consumer practices of some OTAs must be addressed across Europe. Our recent victory in the Hamburg Court confirmed what we have been highlighting for years\u2014that eDreams\u2019 business model relies on overcharging consumers\u2014yet Minister Bustinduy still fails to act.
