The Greek hotel industry won the 31st World Travel Awards, which were presented at a special ceremony held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Berlin, on the sidelines of the ITB 2024 International Tourism Fair.
But apart from Greek hotels, Greece and Athens were also among the award winners, with the country winning the award for the best European destination and the Greek capital winning the award for the top city break destination in Europe.
“Greece made headlines by claiming the distinction for Europe’s top destination,” the announcement for the award ceremony said.
At the awards, which are likened to the Academy Awards, Domes Resort was named the top European hotel brand and Resort Mideast Travel Worldwide the top destination management company.
Graham Cooke, founder of the WTA, said: “It was a privilege to host the opening ceremony of the 2024 Grand Tour in Berlin on an incredible evening that highlighted the leading aspects of Europe’s travel and tourism economy. I congratulate each of our winners who contributed to taking the collective benchmark to even greater heights.”
