Aegean Airlines will offer 8.5 million seats, an increase of 6% compared to last year, and new direct domestic routes this summer.
Its aim, as the president of the airline, Eftychis Vassilakis, recently pointed out, is both the temporal and geographical diffusion of tourism. “We want to contribute to the temporal diffusion within Athens, but also to the diffusion to smaller destinations in Greece, which need a careful development,” said the head of Aegean during his participation in the This is Athens – Agora event.
In the domestic network, AEGEAN is adding four new direct routes from Heraklion to Rhodes, Naxos, Corfu and Kos, while from the island of Rhodes two more new direct flights will be operated from June 2025 to Chania and Santorini.
More specifically, flights from Heraklion “Nikos Kazantzakis” airport to Rhodes “Diagoras” airport will be operated daily, with the first flight scheduled for March 2025, while from June, flights from Heraklion to Kos – with three weekly flights -, Naxos and Corfu, with two weekly flights respectively.
Flights connecting Rhodes to Chania will be operated by ATR 42-600 aircraft twice a week and are already scheduled to increase to four in the middle of the tourist season, while flights from Rhodes to Santorini will be operated three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Finally, from June 2025, the airline will also connect directly from its base in Thessaloniki to the island of Syros, with three weekly flights every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
It is recalled that AEGEAN has already strengthened its activity on the existing routes from Athens to Istanbul (4 daily services) and to Izmir (5 weekly services) respectively, while with the start of the 2025 summer schedule it will add new direct flights from Heraklion, Mykonos, Rhodes and Santorini to Istanbul.
More specifically, from April 2025 and throughout the summer season Heraklion and Santorini will be connected to Istanbul with 2 weekly flights, which will increase to 4 during the peak season, while from June 2025 direct flights to and from Istanbul will also be operated from Mykonos and Rhodes (2 weekly flights respectively).
