Searches for Corfu on Rightmove, the UK’s top property website, increased by 173% in January compared to the previous year, following the BBC’s “Amanda & Alan’s Greek Job” TV show.
Searches for the Greek island have increased significantly after the show, in which close friends Amanda Holden and Alan Carr renovate a property.
Online searches for Corfu increased by 173% in January, surpassing traditional destinations such as Dubai, Costa del Sol, and Algarve.
Rightmove reported that it had seen a similar trend in the past for searches in Spain, which it attributed to the popularity of “Amanda & Alan’s Spanish Job”.
Now, vacationers can book the Spanish villa renovated by Carr and Holden, with prices ranging from €225 (£196) per night during the peak tourist season from May to October, to €195 (£170) per night during the winter months.
Colleen Babcock, a real estate expert at Rightmove, said: “We repeatedly see odd buyers flocking to see properties for sale in locations they’ve seen on TV or in movies.”
