Madrid’s Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport and Rome’s Fiumicino Airport were among those honored at the 2025 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Customer Experience Awards, which did not include Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”.
The best airports for customer service worldwide for 2025 were announced by the Airports Council International (ACI World).
Based on surveys of more than 700,000 passengers, 100 airports around the world were recognized by the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) 2025 Awards in categories such as the most dedicated staff, the easiest route to the airport, the most enjoyable airport, and the cleanest airport. The airports were also awarded for the departure and arrival experience.
“Airports prove that passenger satisfaction can continue to increase despite increasing pressure. These awards reflect the collective efforts of airport teams and stakeholders around the world. As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ASQ program, we honor two decades of reliable information and recognition that have helped airports create better and more memorable travel experiences,” said ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci.
The best airports for customer service in Europe in 2025
In the category of best airports in terms of departures, the winners were divided according to the number of passengers they serve annually.
In the subcategory of 40 million and above, two airports in Europe stood out: Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport in Madrid and Rome Fiumicino Airport. The first is the fifth busiest airport in Europe, while the second is the eighth busiest.
Three airports were recognized in the subcategory of 25 to 40 million: Copenhagen Airport, Vienna Airport, and Zurich Airport.
In the category of 15 to 25 million passengers, Gran Canaria Airport, Helsinki Airport, and Prague Airport received the recognition.
On the other hand, no European airport was ranked in the category of the best airports for arrivals.
Seven airports were recognized as offering the easiest air travel: Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport in Turkey, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport in Barcelona, Milan Linate Airport, Reus Airport in Spain, Rome Fiumicino Airport, Skopje International Airport in North Macedonia, and Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport in Georgia.
The awards also include the ACI World General Manager’s Excellence List, which recognizes airports that “have consistently provided excellent customer service for five years.”
This year’s list of excellence includes two Turkish airports, Ankara Esenboğa and Izmir Adnan Menderes, and Newcastle International Airport.
How ASQ Customer Experience Awards are determined
The ASQ Customer Experience Awards, organized by ACI World, the airport trade association, are based on surveys conducted at airports.
Passengers are randomly selected at departure and arrival gates and asked about their experiences at all stages, from check-in and security screening to shopping and dining.
All surveys are conducted on-site by ASQ-certified representatives, and airports must meet the minimum quarterly sample requirements to be included in the awards.
