Nordic Leisure Travel Group: Aiming for 10 hotels in the next five years and expanding cooperation with Premia Properties in Greece

Premia Properties and Nordic Leisure Travel Group (NLTG) have big plans for joint development in Greek tourism, as the powerful tourism group seeks to expand its footprint both on other Greek islands and on the mainland, with the aim of creating an extensive and competitive portfolio that will consist of ten hotels over the next five years.

This message was sent yesterday from the Zappeion Megaron by the heads of the two companies, Greek-Swedish businessman Elias Georgiadis and Norwegian billionaire Petter Stordalen, during an event to present their cooperation strategy in Greece.

After looking back on the history of his business group, Mr. Stordalen emphasized the willingness of the Scandinavian hotel giant NTLG, with €2 billion in sales and 20,000 employees, to invest further in the Greek tourism product.”We want to increase the number of Scandinavian tourists visiting Greece every summer.

“We want to increase the number of Scandinavian tourists visiting Greece every summer. We will do more business and invest more here,” he said, highlighting the enormous potential of Greek tourism.

NLTG, which holds a 9.66% stake in Premia, retains operational control of the hotels through a long-term sale-and-lease-back agreement.

It should be noted that Premia, as part of its strategic partnership with NLTG, acquired two four-star hotels in Greece, Sunwing Kallithea Beach in Rhodes and Sunwing Makrigialos & Ocean Beach Club in Ierapetra, Crete. Next to Sunwing Kallithea Beach, the company has also purchased an adjacent plot of land with the aim of developing a new hotel. Its goal is to create a strong “neighborhood” of privately owned hotels in the area, thereby strengthening its tourism footprint.

NLTG already operates in Greece through the Sunwing Family Resorts, Ocean Beach, and Sunprime Hotels hotel brands, which manage luxury resorts in two of the country’s top tourist destinations, Crete and Rhodes. In total, the group manages approximately 1,000 “keys” in Greece, offering high-quality hospitality services to guests mainly from Scandinavian countries.

Goran Cocis, Director of Development Expansion at NLTG, analyzing the group’s plans for Greece on the sidelines of the event, said that the goal is to double the number of Scandinavian tourists it brings and hosts in Greece to approximately 560,000 from 280,000 today. Mr. Cocis pointed out that, at the same time, the aim is to increase the number of hotels operating in Greece to around 10 within the next three years, emphasizing that opportunities are being explored in major tourist destinations such as Rhodes, Crete, Kos, Corfu, Samos, Santorini, as well as smaller islands and the southern suburbs of Attica, without giving further details.
