The Heraklion Hotels Association held a working meeting at its offices on Tuesday, December 2, with the Economic Attaché of the United States Embassy in Greece, Mr. Timothy Haynes, as well as the Embassy’s economic officer, Mr. Brian Timm-Brock.
The meeting took place in a particularly warm and collaborative atmosphere, with the main focus on the prospects for strengthening and further developing the flow of tourism from the United States to Crete.
The discussion centred on:
- The future prospects of tourism in Crete, with an emphasis on the strong momentum of the American market.
- The significant changes expected from the operation of the new Kastelli airport, which will greatly enhance accessibility and create new opportunities for growth.
- The potential for direct air connections between Crete and major U.S. cities — a matter of strategic importance for strengthening the local tourism economy.
- The reinforcement of ties with U.S.-based tour operators through the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce, aiming to better promote Crete’s tourism product.
The Heraklion Hotels Association expressed its satisfaction with the excellent climate of the discussion and the clear willingness for closer cooperation. This contact represents an important step toward deepening relations with the American market and promoting new opportunities that will support Crete’s tourism development in the coming years.
