During a period when Greek tourism is seeking a new balance between development and sustainability, the Ministry of Tourism is launching a campaign with a clear objective: to promote mountainous Greece as a year-round development pillar.
With the central message “Mountainous Greece. Takes You High. All Year Round”, the new mountain tourism promotion program was presented, which aims to reposition the mountain area on the country’s tourist map, not as a complementary product, but as an autonomous and powerful experience.
New strategy for a different Greek tourism

The initiative comes at a time when international travel trends are changing, with the modern traveler seeking authenticity, experiential experiences, and a meaningful connection with the place they visit.
As noted, mountainous Greece has all the characteristics to meet this new demand: geographical diversity, rich cultural heritage and the ability to offer experiences that go beyond simple leisure and touch the concept of rejuvenation.
This concept is also at the core of the new communication strategy. It’s not just about activities or altitude, but the overall experience the visitor has when they come into contact with the landscape, history, and local society.
Extending the tourist season is the focus
The central goal of the campaign is to extend the tourist season, a long-standing demand for the Greek tourism industry.
Special emphasis is given to utilizing the summer period in the mountainous area, which until now remains largely untapped.

Through the promotion of activities that combine nature, wellness, culture and gastronomy, the Ministry aims to create a multi-thematic tourism product that will appeal to different audiences and distribute demand more evenly in time and space.
Multichannel campaign with a focus on experience
The communication campaign is developed across multiple media, from TV commercials to digital platforms and thematic content, and is part of a dynamic strategy that will evolve with new stories and narratives.
Initially, the campaign targets the Greek traveler, but with a clear perspective of international development, which reflects the ambition to turn mountainous Greece into an internationally recognized destination.
The visual representations of the campaign (as depicted in the presentation material) are dominated by images of authentic experiences: activities in nature, traditional communities, local gastronomy and cultural expressions, elements that make up a complete tourist identity.
Development focusing on local communities
Beyond the screening, the program is part of a broader strategy that links tourism with local development.
Mountain tourism is being promoted as a tool for strengthening local communities, generating income and retaining the population in areas facing demographic and economic pressures.

This way, a more balanced tourism development is attempted, which will reduce the over-concentration of visitors in specific destinations and open up new outlets for Greek tourism.
The big goal
The new campaign for mountainous Greece marks a significant shift in the Greek tourism strategy: from over-reliance on sun and sea, to a more complex, sustainable and multi-faceted model.
The goal is no longer just to promote, but to turn this strategy into a real tourist flow and investment mobility.
In an international environment of uncertainty, diversifying the tourism product and utilizing less developed areas can be Greece’s new competitive advantage.
And in this context, mountainous Greece seems to be claiming – perhaps for the first time so dynamically – the role that corresponds to it.
