A milestone for Jet2: 15 million passengers through Stansted Airport since 2017

Jet2 is celebrating a significant milestone in its continued success story at London Stansted Airport, as the UK’s favourite airline and tour operator welcomed its 15 millionth customer to travel with it from the airport base.

The first Jet2 flight departed from London Stansted Airport to Faro back in March 2017, and in that first summer of operations the company operated to 25 destinations. For Summer 2017 and Winter 2017/2018, the company had 1.2 million seats on sale from London Stansted Airport. Since then, its continued growth and success means that Jet2 has expanded its flying programme to 61 sun, city and ski destinations, with 15 million customers now having taken advantage of the wide choice of hotspots on sale.

The size and scale of the programme from London Stansted Airport makes Jet2 the second largest carrier from the airport, based on Winter 2025/2026 capacity. The company now operates 17 based aircraft at the airport, compared to just six when Jet2 first launched.

Jet2 is continuing to show its commitment to the region by adding a range of new destinations for both Summer 2026 and 2027 from London Stansted Airport, providing even more options for local customers and independent travel agents when it comes to enjoying a holiday.

For Summer 2026, Jet2 has 2.4 million seats on sale and operations will commence to the sunny hotspots of Jerez, Samos and La Palma for the first time, followed by a brand-new route to Costa de Almeria launching from May 2027.

The launch of award-winning flights and holidays from London Stansted Airport in 2017 created 250 brand-new roles, with the company continuing to invest in the region and now employing almost 1,200 colleagues at the airport base.

In addition to booking and travelling on flights and package holidays with the leading leisure airline and UK’s largest tour operator, holidaymakers can enjoy the same high levels of customer service which has resulted in Jet2.com and Jet2holidays being recognised as Which? Recommended Providers for ten and seven years respectively.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We are delighted to have flown so many happy holidaymakers on our award-winning flights and holidays from London Stansted Airport and to be celebrating our 15 millionth customer to travel with us. It is fantastic to have reached this important milestone in our continued success story.

“Since we first launched from London Stansted Airport in 2017, we have experienced substantial growth thanks to the support and loyalty of our customers, as well as our valued colleagues. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to our success over the years. As well as marking this milestone, we are very much looking towards the future and look forward to taking many more millions of customers on their well-deserved holidays.”
