AEGEAN has informed passengers that flight delays of 30–40 minutes are already being recorded at Athens International Airport and are expected to worsen as the day progresses.
According to the airline’s announcement, since the morning of Thursday, September 25, the Air Traffic Control authorities have reduced the permitted arrival capacity at Athens by approximately 25%. This measure has triggered a chain reaction across the flight schedule, as morning delays in arrivals inevitably spill over and affect subsequent departures and return cycles of aircraft to and from Athens.
AEGEAN stresses that the disruption does not stem from its own operational shortcomings but from broader airspace restrictions that impact the overall management of flights. As a result, passengers may need to adjust their travel plans, particularly those with connecting flights or tightly scheduled professional commitments.
The company apologizes for the inconvenience caused and underlines that it is doing everything possible to mitigate the effects. AEGEAN is working closely with the relevant authorities and using all available operational resources to minimize disruption. The airline also encourages travelers to stay updated through its official website and cooperating travel agencies, ensuring they receive timely information on possible schedule changes.
