Athens ranks third on the list of the 15 ideal destinations for May

Athens is among the 15 best places in the world to visit this May, according to Time Out. For sightseeing and nature tours in spring weather, Greece’s climate is ideal for visitors. The summer rush has not yet begun, making May the perfect month for off-season travelers.

Below are the 15 most important destinations for May, with Greece in third place:

Toronto, Canada

Hokkaido, Japan

Athens, Greece

Memphis, USA

Utrecht, Netherlands

Scotland

West Coast, Australia

Nepal

Paris, France

Lisbon, Portugal

Florence, Italy

Los Angeles, USA

Sydney, Australia

Wales

Okavango Delta, Botswana

Toronto, Canada

Toronto hosts a lesser-known cherry blossom season. However, summers are usually intense, while May is ideal for sightseeing, such as the CN Tower, Niagara Falls, and Tim Hortons.

Hokkaido, Japan

Matsumae Park is one of the best places in the city. It has around 250 varieties of cherry blossoms and 10,000 trees. Shibazakura covers huge areas of the countryside — Higashimokoto Park even hosts a festival dedicated to the flowers. The average temperature is 12 degrees Celsius.

Athens, Greece

May in Athens is the ideal time to visit the ancient ruins before the high temperatures of the summer months and the crowds of tourists. Although a city steeped in ancient history, Athens is also home to a number of trendy bars and cafes and a cutting-edge art scene with a range of exciting contemporary art galleries. The Acropolis and the Temple of Poseidon are a paradise for history buffs and foodies alike, with excellent restaurants in this ever-evolving cultural capital.
