New Ellinair Routes Kavala-St. Petersburg/Moscow Announced

Ellinair, of the Mouzenides Group, has announced the launch of new air routes from the northern Greek city of Kavala to St/ Petersburg and Moscow, Russia. The seasonal service will run from May 26, 2017-September 10, 2017.

Flights from Kavala’s Alexander the Great International Airport to Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport will run on Tuesdays and Fridays, which flights to St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo International Airport will run on Mondays and Thursdays.

Ellinair’s goal is to offer more options for Russian tourists coming to Greece. opening up destinations that may be less well-known overseas (Eastern Macedonia and Thrace), but rich in its religious and cultural heritage, plus northern Aegean islands such as Thasos, Samothrace, in addition to beaches in Alexandroupoli.

For those who wish to make a “Footsteps of the Apostle Paul” trip, Kavala, Philippi, and Samothrace were all stops made by the great Apostle to the Nations during his first European missionary journey. St. Paul baptized the first European convert to Christianity at Philippi, just outside of Kavala. This was a major reason for Elliair to offer flights to Kavala, as the Mouzenides Group brings thousands of Orthodox pilgrims to Greece each year.
