Based on Time Out data, Budapest has been named the most affordable travel escape for American vacationers in 2025.
Credit card company Aqua examined the average cost of round-trip travel, weekly hotel stays, food and drink, and local transportation to all European destinations and created a list of the most affordable options for the summer.

Flights with an average cost of 83 pounds per person to the Hungarian capital, as well as weekly hotel stays for about 536 pounds for two people, meals for 8.28 pounds, and beers with an average price of 2.07 pounds. The transportation is equally cheap, with local transportation tickets costing just under 1 pound. Rudas, a 500-year-old thermal spa right along the river, with pools, saunas, hammams, and cold plunges.
