Travellers satisfied with the luxury hotels in Venice

With the Venice Biennale approaching, the city’s luxury hotel sector is experiencing a major resurgence in visitor satisfaction.

According to recent data from Shiji ReviewPro, in the first seven months of 2024, Venice’s 5-star hotels achieved a Global Rating Index (GRI) score of 91.2%, which is 1.2 points above the global average. This score marks an increase of 0.7 points, compared to the same period in 2023, highlighting the resilience and recovery of Venice’s luxury accommodation and returning guest satisfaction levels to pre-pandemic benchmark levels.

Some basic statistics:

– Global Rating Index (GRI): luxury hotels in Venice achieved a GRI of 91.2% in 2024, up 0.7 points from 2023.

– Location satisfaction: 5-star Venice hotels have a location satisfaction score of 94.3%, among the highest in Europe.

– Positive reviews: 77.2% of guest reviews were positive, indicating consistent satisfaction with luxury accommodations.

– Language demographics: The number of reviews increased, with Chinese-language reviews doubling to 2.2% of the total, while Russian-language reviews remained stable at 1.5%, indicating that the war has not significantly impacted Russian travel since the last Biennale in 2022.

Guest satisfaction improved significantly in 2024, compared to previously, especially in areas such as the quality of hotel staff, breakfast offerings and overall service.

Problems from the 2022 Biennale, such as problems with room key cards and inconsistent room preparation, have been largely resolved. However, some challenges remain, with air conditioning glitches and pricing concerns highlighting areas for continued improvement.

Venice’s attractiveness as a top destination is further validated by its excellent location ratings and the increasingly diverse demographics of its visitor demographics.

Ratings are predominantly in English (59.9%), with a significant increase in Chinese language ratings.

Booking.com remains the leading source for reviews, accounting for 51.6% of the market, followed by Google and Tripadvisor. While, the presence of Trip.com and Ctrip in the top ten ‘sources’ of reviews reflects the growing influence of Chinese travellers.

As Venice prepares for the 2024 Biennale, luxury hotels are focused on maintaining and further improving customer satisfaction. With key metrics pointing to a strong recovery, Venice is set to strengthen its status as a top destination for luxury travellers worldwide.
