The CEO of TUI UK & Ireland, Neil Swanson, has appeared particularly reassuring regarding Britons’ holidays, dismissing speculation about flight cancellations due to fuel shortages, which have caused significant concern among UK travellers ahead of the May school holidays.
By sending the message that Britons’ holidays are operating normally, Mr Swanson places TUI among the list of travel providers and companies rushing to reassure UK travellers that journeys are not, at least at this stage, at risk from fuel supply shortages, which have already affected Asian countries.
“We are aware that some customers may feel slightly concerned following recent news, and we want to reassure those travelling during the May holidays that they can look forward to their holidays with confidence with TUI,” he said.
“We have a good picture regarding fuel supply and we are delivering our holiday programme according to our original schedule, with no flights being cancelled due to fuel shortages. Our careful planning in relation to fuel, flights, and hotel capacity means we are able to continue offering excellent value for money and stable prices, as TUI does not impose additional fuel surcharges,” Mr Swanson added.
As he stated, the price customers see is the price they pay. He also stressed that all TUI package holidays are protected by ABTA and ATOL, providing the necessary reassurance from the moment of booking until travellers return home.
His intervention follows similar statements from ABTA, the UK government, easyJet, and others, which are seeking to establish the necessary framework in a collective effort to ease consumer concerns about the impact of the conflict in the Middle East on flights and travel.
