Visa-free travel to 191 destinations | Reactions from travelers in the Netherlands and other countries

A Dutch innovation allows Dutch citizens to travel to 191 spectacular countries without the need for a visa. The policy, which comes into effect from August 2024 this year, has catapulted the Dutch passport, cementing its position as one of the most powerful travel documents in the world, according to travel daily media.

The Economic Mobility Index highlights how the visa-free policy could lead to a notable economic upswing for the Netherlands. The influx of international tourists will invigorate the local economy, benefiting sectors such as hospitality, dining, and entertainment.

In the same time, major hotel chains like NH Hotels, CitizenM, and Van der Valk are preparing for higher occupancy rates as international travelers flock to the country. As the Netherlands continues to attract international tourists and foster economic growth, the nation is set to enjoy the benefits of its progressive travel policy, strengthening its position on the global stage.

With the new visa-free access, Dutch airlines such as KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Transavia are poised to experience a surge in passenger numbers. KLM, the Netherlands’ flagship carrier, already services over 145 destinations worldwide, many of which are now visa-free for Dutch travelers. The travel demand for European and North African destinations is increasing.
