Accor and Propreal Capital Partners expand luxury portfolio with the signing of Sofitel Porto

Accor and Propreal Capital Partners, a leading real estate investment firm, are pleased to announce the signing of Sofitel Porto, set to open in 2028. This marks the second collaboration between Propreal and Sofitel, following the success of Sofitel Barcelona Skipper.

Strategically located between Avenida dos Aliados and Rua de Santa Catarina, Sofitel Porto will elevate luxury hospitality in Portugal’s vibrant and second-largest city.

Sofitel Porto will seamlessly blend the brand’s signature style with Porto’s rich cultural heritage. The 132-room luxury hotel, spanning approximately 11,000 m², will feature extensive public spaces, multiple dining concepts with potential partnerships with renowned Portuguese chefs, and a mix of tranquil and lively areas designed to cater to both international travellers and Porto’s dynamic local community. Situated in the heart of the city, the hotel will also offer carefully designed green spaces that provide a refreshing natural element within the urban setting. The property’s protected façade will be carefully preserved, while the interior design, led by renowned designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán, will highlight the building’s identity, reflecting a sophisticated fusion of Portuguese artistry and French refinement. The meticulous restoration will focus on reviving the building’s original splendour, showcasing exceptional artisanal details that celebrate the city’s rich design traditions.

Accor identified a unique opportunity to expand its luxury hospitality footprint in Porto when Propreal Capital Partners secured this prime location. Sharing a common vision, the two partners continue to join forces to bring world-class hospitality experiences to key European destinations.

Sofitel Porto will be a flagship for the brand in the Iberian Peninsula, marking Accor’s first luxury hotel in Porto and its second Sofitel in Portugal, alongside Sofitel Lisbon Avenida Liberdade. Accor already operates several hotels in the city under the Novotel, Mercure, and ibis brands.

Commenting on the signing announcement:

Porto is a city with a deep cultural and historical identity, and we are honored to introduce Sofitel in such a prestigious location. True to our brand promise of building cultural bridges between French and local cultures, Sofitel Porto will further strengthen the deep-rooted connection between Portugal and France. As the second-largest city and an economic hub, Porto combines heritage, coastal beauty, and a thriving cultural scene. Together with Propreal Capital Partners, we are committed to delivering a luxury experience that seamlessly blends Porto’s rich heritage with Sofitel’s timeless elegance.” refered Maud Bailly, CEO of Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery and Emblems.
