The famous shoe designer Christian Louboutin continues to expand his presence in the hospitality industry, this time with two new villas added to the Vermelho hotel in Melides, on the coast of Portugal.
The project confirms that his creative eye is not limited to fashion, but also embraces architecture, interior design, and high-end tourism.
The new arrivals, La Salvada and La Maison des Bateaux, capture two different versions of luxurious living. The first, designed by Egyptian architect Tarek Shamma, is inspired by the architecture of Kashbah, with sandy hues and bold red and blue elements. It has three rooftops, a fireplace, and views that stretch all the way to the Atlantic, accommodating up to four guests. Prices start at around 2,200 euros per night.
The second villa, La Maison des Bateaux, takes a more nautical approach, evoking a traditional fisherman’s house. White and blue accents dominate the decor, while the private pool set among rice fields creates a scene of absolute serenity. The accommodation rate starts at 1,700 euros per night, with a capacity of up to six people.
Guests of the villas have access to Vermelho’s facilities and services, such as the Xtian restaurant, spa, and stylish bar. The hotel, which opened in 2023, has already won recognition for its unique design, in which Portuguese architect Madalena Caiado participated.
The choice of Melides is not random. The Comporta and Alentejo region has evolved in recent years into a haven for artists, creatives, and fashionistas, offering a combination of authenticity and understated luxury. Louboutin, who has close ties to the area, appears to be investing in a new way of hospitality that connects international glamour with local tradition.
With the two new villas, the designer shows that the same vision that established the red soles as a global style icon can also be applied to the hospitality industry — a blend of elegance, inspiration, and absolute exclusivity.
