Regarded by many cruise enthusiasts as a rite of passage, the Silver Wind – part of Silversea- sailed beneath London’s iconic Tower Bridge on Sunday evening during a rare call in the city centre, following an immersive 12-day voyage from Lisbon.
Offering striking views along the River Thames, the vessel remained berthed near Tower Bridge until approximately 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening before departing once again on its next voyage to Edinburgh, ahead of further expeditions to Iceland and the Arctic. The call gave onlookers the opportunity to witness a memorable maritime moment, marking what is expected to be the ship’s final visit to central London for several years.
The Silver Wind will later operate Silversea Cruises’s Antarctica Fly Cruise itineraries from October of this year, coinciding with the opening of the brand’s first hotel, The Cormorant at 55 South in Puerto Williams, Chile. The new property will be the southernmost hotel in the world, with stays included as part of Silversea’s Antarctica Fly Cruise programme.
The Silver Wind’s arrival at Tower Bridge underscores Silversea’s leadership in destination-focused cruising. The brand offers immersive travel experiences across more than 900 of the world’s most remarkable destinations—more than any other cruise company. Designed to bring travellers closer to each destination, Silversea’s expedition voyages combine cultural discovery with immersive experiences, including sailings in the polar regions of Antarctica and the Arctic.
The company also noted it would be happy to provide further information or assets, including upcoming drone footage of the Silver Wind’s passage under Tower Bridge, should the news be of interest for online or print coverage.
