Cycladic island in the 11 best places in the world for holidays in 2025

Andros Cycladic island ranks first in the list of the 11 best places in the world for holidays in 2025, presented by the experienced editor of the travel blog “Where Life is Great”, Marta Ostoya, based on her personal experiences.

“Every year, as the final months approach, I’m excited to share my list of the best places to visit in 2025. It’s not just a collection of trendy spots-it’s a collection of destinations I’ve personally explored, each of which deserves more love and attention from travelers in the coming year.

For 2025, I’ve chosen destinations that truly deserve a place on your travel bucket list – places that captivated me with their landscapes, culture and adventure, far from the usual crowds.

In my list of the best places to visit in 2025, you’ll find lesser-known islands, charming European cities and something special for every type of traveler who is ready to create new memories and experience true hospitality away from the crowds,” says Ms. Ostoya, who has traveled to more than 40 countries around the world.

In her extensive article, the author mentions about Andros: “First on my list of the best places to visit in 2025 is Andros, in Greece – a versatile destination that offers much more than just its beautiful beaches. It is known as the only Cycladic island that boasts lush green valleys, streams and waterfalls. With an extensive network of hiking trails, Andros is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, while its quiet beaches make it equally attractive for those seeking relaxation.”

“Andros is located in the northern Cyclades and is one of the easiest Greek islands in terms of access from Athens. A quick 2-2.5 hour ferry ride from the port of Rafina makes the island an affordable getaway, even for a weekend trip. The island’s proximity to the mainland is just one of the many reasons why it stands out,” he continues.

She points out that she visited the island with her son, who is just 7 months old, and found it to be family-friendly.

According to the author, one of the family’s most memorable adventures was a visit to the Foros cave in Alantinou, with its fascinating stalactites and stalagmites.

The family fell in love with Menites, a charming village known for its whitewashed houses and beautiful fruit trees, and relaxing walks in Batsi, the picturesque fishing village with its tranquil atmosphere, and the charming Chora, the capital of Andros, which combines a classic, Cycladic atmosphere with a touch of Venetian elegance.

For Marta Ostoya, the beaches of Andros were equally unforgettable, with Gialia beach, with its crystal clear waters and serene atmosphere, being the ideal place for total relaxation.

Special mention is made of the local cuisine, a rich omelette with sausage and potatoes, and almond pastries, taking the impressions.

“With its mix of adventure, culture and delicious food, Andros has proven to be a versatile and family-friendly destination that we cannot recommend enough!” concludes Marta Ostoya.
