Eleftherios Venizelos: a new seven-storey car park is coming to the airport | Changes to parking at Athens Airport from July 10 | PHOTOS

Changes to the layout and operation of the parking areas will take effect from July 10, 2025 at Athens International Airport as construction work for the new seven-storey car park will begin.

The new building with a capacity of 3,365 vehicles and a total area of 98,600 sqm at Athens International Airport is estimated to be ready in the second quarter of 2027. The project is part of Athens International Airport’s investment programme, which is being accelerated to accommodate up to 40 million passengers.

The total investment programme is estimated at approximately €1,280 million and will be implemented over the period 2025-32. Up to 50% of the investments are expected to be implemented by 2028 and the remaining part by 2032.

The investment programme will be financed mainly through debt (which has largely already been secured) and partly from aviation capital through the Scrip Dividend reinvestment programme.

What applies to vehicles

From 10 July 2025, Short Term 1 will be closed and transferred to the Long Term area, around the pedestrian bridge leading to the Main Terminal.

Main information:

  • There will be signage from Attiki Odos to guide you to the new Short Term 1 parking area.
  • The signage will include VMS displays that will provide real-time information on the available parking spaces in Short Term 1 & 2 (Short Term) and Long Term (Long Term).
  • Entry and exit will be made with a single ticket, which will be used to enter/exit the Long Term car park and to enter/exit the new Short Term 1 (Short Term 1) car park, which will be located within the Long Term car park.

  • Payment will be made at the automatic payment machines exclusively for Short Term 1, located near the escalators of the pedestrian bridge, or only by card at the exit of Short Term 1.
  • The electric chargers will be moved to the new Short Term 1 (Short Term) car park.
  • The disabled parking spaces located in Short Term 1 will be moved to Short Term 2 to provide direct access to the Main Terminal Building.
  • The price list in the new Short Term Parking Area 1 (Short Term) remains unchanged.
  • In the new Short Term 1 space, 30 minutes of free parking will apply instead of 20 minutes.
  • The new Short Term 1 car park is located just a 5-minute walk from the Main Terminal.

Please note, the existing Short Term 1 parking will NO longer be available from 10 July 2025.

Vehicle owners are requested to remove vehicles by midnight on 10 July, as vehicles not picked up by their owners by that time will be removed by crane.

In addition:

  • The new Short Term 1 & Short Term 2 car parks will continue to operate without online booking facilities.
  • Online booking is only possible for Economy, Long Term and Valet parking.

In its statement, AIA notes that if you are visiting the airport after 10/07/25, please allow a little extra time for parking.

What applies to motorcycles

Motorcycle parking spaces in Short Term 1 and outside will NO longer be available from 3 July 2025.
