Fake holiday scandal on the occasion of the Final Four | More than 160.000 euro target

A fraud case centred on this year’s Final Four, in Abu Dhabi, has come to light in recent days, led by a woman who claims to be a former journalist specialising in church reporting, who in recent years has turned professional in the field of public relations.

More than 50 people have fallen into the hands of the accused KM, who was arrested last night in a hotel in Athens, in an operation carried out by police officers of the Financial Crimes Investigation Sub-Division, in cooperation with the Organized Crime Directorate, on the basis of an arrest warrant for the offences of serial fraud and money laundering from criminal activity. Among them are well-known businessmen and lawyers – from whom he is alleged to have extorted, according to information from the Hellenic Police, an amount of more than 160,000 euros.

The woman, who presented herself to her potential victims in the guise of someone close to the church and claimed to have contacts in the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, presented the perfect offer for a trip to the United Arab Emirates, with VIP tickets for the Euroleague Final 4 matches.

The offer included a charter flight to Abu Dhabi, VIP tickets for Panathinaikos’ matches against Fenerbahce and Olympiacos’ matches against Monaco, as well as accommodation in luxury hotels.

However, as soon as the woman received the money she disappeared.

Intense action

This case is not an isolated incident, but the occasion to expose the action of this “lady”, who has been involved in other similar cases.

Some time ago, she managed to defraud a cheerleading team, including coaches and chaperones, by promising them cheap tickets and hotels to Orlando, USA, to take part in the World Cheerleading Championships.

According to the information that has come to light in recent days, the former journalist and current publicist has deceived dozens of people, promising luxury leisure trips to popular destinations, both abroad and in Greece, at extremely low prices. Unfortunately, however, the promised trips or, at least, the majority of them were… carbon. For there have been people who have actually travelled with this woman as their organiser. And this is one of the elements that served as bait for her potential victims.

The police are continuing to investigate the possible involvement of other persons in the fraud case and to identify all the victims.

The case against the arrested woman, who is expected to be brought before the prosecutor of the Athens District Court today, is of a felony nature.

The announcement of the Hellenic Police

By the Financial Crimes Sub-Directorate of the Directorate for the Fight against Organized Crime was arrested today, Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Athens, under a relevant arrest warrant, a Greek citizen accused of fraud on a serial basis, from which the damage caused exceeds 120,000 euros, as well as money laundering from criminal activity.

An investigation preceded by which it was found that, the above, at least from May 2024, convinced her victims by representing false facts as true, that she had the ability to organize leisure trips at lower prices, receiving sums of money corresponding to the costs of the trip, such as airline tickets, hotels, etc., but without them being realized.

In fact, on the occasion of basketball matches to be held in a foreign country, he approached people, presenting that he was able to provide them with tickets and organise travel packages to and from that country.

As it turned out, with the above modus operandi, he managed to defraud at least -50- persons, obtaining a total of more than -160.000- euros.

The arrested woman was brought before the competent prosecuting authority.
