Greece is ranked among the most popular destinations in the world for travel in 2026, according to a new survey by international marketing company Travelsavers and the Network of Travel Sales Entrepreneurs (NEST).
Greece ranks fourth globally in the top five destinations for this year, a ranking dominated by Europe, as the exciting combination of history and culture attracts travelers. Italy is expected to be the top destination of the year, with Portugal and Greece taking the top five spots, while outside of Europe, Alaska is in second place and the Mayan Riviera is in fifth place.
The expansion of direct flights from the US helps meet the significant demand for travel to Europe. However, travelers are venturing beyond the typical popular destinations in Europe. Eastern Europe, which ranked second in the category of popular destinations, is gaining ground for 2026, as travelers increasingly choose alternative destinations, and the attractions of Eastern Europe are strong… substitutes for the more well-known ones in Western Europe.
Travelers are also turning their attention to Asia, with Japan taking the top spot in the category of popular destinations for 2026, thanks to its rich cultural exploration opportunities and favorable exchange rates.
