Growthfund: Contract signed with Matenisa Trading Co. for the Agia Triada campsite

The Growthfund announces that on Thursday, July 31, 2025, the contract was signed with MATENISA TRADING CO. LTD, which was selected as the Eligible Investor in the relevant tender for the sale of the property “Agia Triada Beach and Camping Site” in the Municipality of Thermaikos, Regional Unit of Thessaloniki, for a total consideration of €19.5 million.

The signing was attended by the CEO and Deputy CEO of the GrowthFund, Yannis Papachristou and Panagiotis Stamboulidis, and the representative of MATENISA TRADING CO. LTD, Spyros Fokas. As part of the international tender for the development of the property, an electronic auction (E-Auction) was held for the submission of improved bids from three investment schemes. The final bid is 140.7% higher than the starting price of the electronic auction, which amounted to €8.1 million.

According to the relevant announcement, the development of the property will have multiple benefits for the local community, as approximately 50,000 square meters will be returned to the citizens and visitors of the Municipality of Thermaikos, while the property is also planned to include the construction of a school (4,000 square meters).

These interventions, in combination with the designated forest area of approximately 23,000 square meters, create significant prospects for upgrading the public space in the area for the benefit of the local community, while the development of the property will contribute to the enhancement of the coastal front.

The CEO of the GrowthFund, Yannis Papachristou, commented on the importance of the project: “The development of public property with the ultimate goal of stimulating regional development and strengthening the Greek economy is one of the main pillars of the Superfund’s mission. We are particularly pleased that such an important project for the local community is now on track for implementation following the successful completion of the tender process. The development of the property in Agia Triada has significant multiplier benefits: new jobs will be created, both during the construction and operation of the project, the region’s tourism product will be strengthened, and the daily lives of citizens will be significantly improved through the upgrading of public spaces and the enhancement of the coastal front.

The Deputy CEO, Panagiotis Stamboulidis, pointed out: “With transparency and efficiency, the Superfund has completed yet another tender for a project with significant benefits for the Greek economy and the public interest. In addition to the high price secured through the electronic auction, the development of the property in Agia Triada will contribute to the growth of the wider area and improve the quality of life for residents and visitors. Of particular importance is the provision for the allocation of public spaces for the benefit of the local community, as well as the construction of a new school, which will meet essential needs in the area and strengthen social cohesion.”

In a statement, MATENISA TRADING CO. LTD emphasizes the following: “MATENISA TRADING CO. LIMITED has completed the acquisition of a property with a total area of approximately 160 acres in the Agia Triada area of Thessaloniki. The property is part of a multifaceted development plan focused on sustainable tourism, strengthening the local economy, and creating low-impact interventions with an environmental and social footprint. The investment is part of the strategic priorities for sustainable development, offering significant benefits for employment and the economy of the Region of Central Macedonia. The investment plan is part of an overall vision for sustainable tourism development, incorporating green technologies, improved energy efficiency, and full compliance with environmental requirements. The aim is to create a model residential and tourist micro-environment, fully harmonized with the natural landscape, which will highlight the unique characteristics of the area. The implementation of the project is expected to significantly boost the local economy and contribute to the upgrading of the wider area, acting as a lever for further development of the Agia Triada coastal front and its connection to the wider tourist map of the Region.
