In the absence of hoteliers, the regulation of organic waste from hotels is proceeding with charges | Letter from HHF

In the absence of hoteliers proceeds regulation for organic waste of hotels from the Ministry of Environment and Energy, as noted in a letter to the Minister Theodoros Skylakakis, notified to the Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni, the Panhellenic Federation of Hoteliers.

According to the letter signed by the president of HHF Yannis Hatzis, the creation of a Collective Alternative Management System for the organic waste of hotels is planned, with resources of the liable companies themselves and as he underlines “This is a regulation for which to date, at least as far as we know, has not been preceded by any consultation with the hotel industry, despite the fact that it concerns us directly”.

In this context, it calls on the Minister to bring the promoted draft law to the attention of the hotel industry in a timely manner and to give the necessary time to submit views on the draft.

The letter

The letter is as follows:

“To Mr. Theo Skylakakis, Minister of Environment and Energy.

Mr. Thiodoğlucakou, Minister of Tourism, Mr. Thiodoğlucakou, Minister of Tourism, and Ms. Olga Kefalogianni, Minister of Tourism.

According to your Ministry’s announcements, the creation of a Collective Alternative Management System for the organic waste of hotels is planned, with the resources of the liable companies themselves.

This is a regulation on which, to date, at least as far as we know, there has not been any consultation with the hotel industry, despite the fact that it concerns us directly.

In view of the above, please bring the proposed draft law to our attention in due time and give us the necessary time to submit our comments and proposals on it.

We note that effective consultation and consideration of the proposals of the representatives of the individual sectors of the economy on issues that concern them contributes to the adoption of the best solutions and to the prevention of problems that may arise in relation to the proposed regulations, which may render them practically unworkable.

We remain at your disposal for any clarification.

Yannis Hatzis Angelos Kallias

Chairman of the Board of Directors Secretary General’.
