JetBlue: To increase profits they are stopping routes between Gatwick and Boston and New York for the winter

The US low cost carrier’s earnings have been impacted by higher operational costs and uneven demand, causing it to rationalise or cancel routes around the world.

Gatwick Airport is one of the airports affected by JetBlue’s decision, as the flights they had to Boston Airport and New York’s JFK were cheaper than the profits they made from them.

It was decided by JetBlue to operate only during the summer season, which nominally runs from the last Sunday in March to the last Saturday in October. The airline will continue to operate flights to both US cities from Heathrow throughout the year.

JetBlue is also axing flights to the rest of Europe, cutting its capacity to the continent by almost a third over the winter.

The airline is understood to be planning to return to Gatwick in March 2025.
