Paros in the international spotlight: From “well-hidden secret” to top destination for 2026

Paros has a strong impact on the international tourism map, as it is included in the list of the best hotels for 2026 published by the international travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller.

The extensive tribute presents the island as one of the most rising destinations in the Cyclades, noting that Paros is now permanently moving from the center of the “insider tip” to the international tourist scene.

As the magazine notes, Paros has been a favorite destination for years, mainly for Greeks and a more limited circle of foreign visitors, far from the spotlight of mass international exposure. However, in recent years, a series of new high-end hotels with modern design, combined with the overall upgrade of tourism infrastructure, have changed the situation. The result is an island that now attracts a broader, international audience, without –at least for now– losing its more relaxed and authentic character.

Condé Nast Traveler attributes Paros’ international recognition to a “mature” tourism identity that balances authenticity and luxury. The presence of new luxury and boutique hotels acts as a catalyst for upgrading the island’s brand, while traditional villages, quiet beaches, and local cuisine continue to be key elements of the experience.

Special mention is made of hotels that have already gained an international audience, such as Cosme, a Luxury Collection Resort, Parocks, Andronis Minois, and Avant Mar, which, according to the magazine, contribute decisively to Paros’ shift towards a more quality, design-driven tourism model. At the same time, smaller-scale units and private villas are being developed, catering to high-end visitors and reinforcing the island’s image as a “low-key, high-quality” destination.

The tribute also notes that Paros earns points over other popular Cycladic destinations, as it offers a vibrant social and gastronomic life – centered in Naoussa – without reaching the levels of overcrowding seen in islands like Mykonos. This “balance,” as the authors describe it, makes the island particularly attractive to travelers seeking vibrancy without excess.

Condé Nast Traveler also notes that Paros stands out for its relative ease of access, an element that plays an increasingly important role in the travel choices of international visitors. Combined with improved hospitality services and investment in sustainability, the island is being promoted as a prime example of a modern Greek destination that is evolving without completely altering its identity.

Paros’s inclusion in the 2026 Condé Nast Traveller list serves as another indication of the shift in international interest towards Greek destinations that offer luxury with restraint, authenticity, and experiences beyond the mass tourism model. For the island, this international recognition is not just a communication success, but also a critical crossroads for how it will manage the increasing demand in the coming years.
