Portugal at the center of Hyatt’s interest | Plans for triple the number of hotels by 2027

With Portugal preparing to welcome a record number of visitors this year, Hyatt Hotels Corporation is unveiling an ambitious expansion plan in the country, with four new hotels set to open over the next two years.

Based on the success of the recent Hyatt hotel openings in Lisbon and Madeira, the hotel chain will continue to expand its presence in major business centers, popular vacation destinations, and emerging cultural hotspots in Portugal.

Specifically, Hyatt is planning the opening of its two lifestyle brands -Andaz and The Standard- in Lisbon, further solidifying its position as a leader in lifestyle hospitality and a key player in the evolving hotel industry in the Portuguese capital.

The Andaz Lisbon is expected to open in the first quarter of 2026, marking the brand’s debut in Portugal. The hotel’s 170 rooms and suites will reflect the creative spirit of Lisbon, combining contemporary art with local elements in every detail.

At the Luzzi restaurant, with its rooftop lounge, Lusitanian cuisine will be offered through a modern lens, while the Andaz Lounge will offer guests street food-inspired dishes, handcrafted cocktails, and Portuguese beers.

The Standard, Lisbon: Scheduled to open in 2026, The Standard, Lisbon, built above the winding streets of Alfama, is expected to be a bold addition to the brand’s European collection.

The 197 rooms and suites, the veranda, the spa, and the gardens are designed not just as spaces, but as settings for experiences, each filled with possibilities.

The Hyatt Regency brand is also set to expand its presence in Portugal with the planned opening of the Hyatt Regency Vilamoura, and will also expand into other Portuguese-speaking regions, such as Cape Verde, with the Hyatt Regency Cape Verde Sal.

The Hyatt Regency Vilamoura Algarve, near Vilamoura’s famous marina and golf courses, is expected to be a reference point for travelers visiting the area for a sporting event.

The hotel will have over 250 rooms and suites, restaurants, a main bar, and spacious outdoor areas designed for relaxation and socializing.

The Hyatt Regency Cape Verde Sal is expected to be the first Hyatt hotel in Cape Verde and will be located on the island of Sal, which is known for its pristine beaches.

Designed for both leisure and business travelers, the hotel will offer high-level hospitality and spaces that encourage relaxation and interaction with the natural beauty of the island.

These scheduled “arrivals” will bolster Hyatt’s growing portfolio in the region, following the opening of Hyatt Regency Lisbon in 2022.

“As Portugal matures as a market in the hospitality and residential investment sectors, we are excited to expand our portfolio and bring our diverse range of brands to more destinations,” said Hyatt’s regional development head, Helena Burstedt.
